Student Rationale for POWER-U Every Student Should: ●have an adult mentor ●take ownership of their learning ●have a reason to come to school beyond the “little red school house” ●improve time management, organization and study skills

Teacher Rationale for POWER-U Every Teacher should: ●Differentiate instruction for unique needs of students ●Develop relationships with students ●Track a group of students through West Block ●Provide an “office hour” to touch base with students in good standing

POWER-UNuts and Bolts ●Reformatted Bell Schedule One hour long POWER session per day ●30 minutes for lunch and 30 for POWER-U ●Removes class disruption during lunch 1st Block 2nd Block POWER-U (with lunch) 3rd Block 4th Block

What We Offer ●Each department establishes their scheduled offerings weekly and posts the offerings o Three academic sessions per week per department ●Special offerings will be made: o Career days o Tournaments (four-square) o College fair o Media / Tech specific offerings

Student Responsibilities ●Attend four enrichment / office hour sessions per class per quarter ●Be Accountable for U o Manage time wisely o Pick up after yourself o Move with a purpose o Set meaningful personal priorities in my schedule

Teacher Responsibilities ●Teachers are assigned by department o Weekly responsibilities:  1 supervision day (predetermined or assigned location)  3 academic enrichment days  1 open day ●Departments will create a common grading rubric for enrichment/office sessions
