Stonehenge  a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire in the south of England  the ring of huge standing sandstones, 33 metres wide in average  weight of stones – 45 tonnes, 6-7 metres high  constructed from 3000 BC to 2000 BC  why and who built this monument - a secret, maybe it was built by 3 tribes in different time periods  added to the UNESCO’s list in 1986  nowadays - a tourist attraction known all over the world  purposes: - used for the astronomy – a gigantic calendar - organised religious rituals, a tomb for dead people - magical stones – help to cure ill people
