A type of anxiety disorder that is triggered by an extremely traumatic event. PTSD can be developed when a traumatic even is experienced by a person or when a person witnesses a traumatic event happen to someone else. Alcohol or substance abuse, or other anxiety disorders commonly co-occur with PTSD.
