An optometrist is a trained health care professional who provides eye care. An optometrist is the first line of defense for vision protection. An optometrist looks after general ocular health by diagnosing and often treating eye and visual disorders. An optometrist examines, diagnoses and treats visual conditions. An optometrist provides specialized treatments like vision therapy. An optometrist manages and co-manages your eye and other health care issues. What is an optometrist?

What does an optometrist do?

An independent primary health-care profession. Optometrists are the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system. They provide comprehensive eye and vision care - which includes refraction, dispensing, the detection/diagnosis and management of diseases in the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system.
