Riding Freedom By Pam Ryan Date pub.1998 Fiction Book Genre; Fictionalized Biography

Setting The story takes place in the Mid Eighteen Hundreds. It takes place in the country side of New Hampshire. The main character was raised in an orphanage for boys. (Even though she is a girl.)

Character Charlotte Parkhurst has blue eyes, light brown hair, and wears a leather bracelet. She didn’t like dolls like any other girl would, she was more of a tom boy, she also enjoyed riding horses and stage coaching.

Conflict The problem in the story is that Charlotte P. doesn’t have any freedom, she is stuck in an orphanage.

Resolution She figures out a plan to escape the orphanage, and finds her way to freedom, and her own land.

Opinion My opinion to this book is that it is very inspiring and it is very meaningful, because of the time her parents past away, and her horse Freedom.

Summary Charlotte P. was raised in an orphanage for boys. Which she didn’t mind. She loved to work in the stable, and had a very special way with horses. She wasn’t allowed to enter any races or any training sessions, so she decided to escape the orphanage, and was very determined on finding her way to freedom by horse riding and stage coaching.
