COMMISSION IV Introduction to new Term We are initiating the second term in the life of Commission IV with: –four (4) Study Groups in place –program Committees that have organized the sessions for Bremen and Vancouver and supported different IAA conferences (i.e. Small Satellites etc.). After the good organization reached by my antecessor Pierre Bescond, I would like to continue his outstanding work concentrating the attention of the Commission IV in: –Incentivating the Study Groups and Program Committees proposals. –Increasing the synergy of the Small Satellite Missions Group recently transferred to our Commission with the Earth Observation Group. –Incentivating the proposition of new cosmic studies, conference sessions, and symposia from the program Committees. –Supporting the new growing Study Group on Space Weather and EVA (Extravehicular Activity) and –Maintaining and increasing the interfaces and exchanges with the other Commissions specifically with Commission I in the field of Small Satellite Planetary missions. These are some of the objectives I would like to reach in this Term and I would appreciate very much to have your inputs, new ideas, initiatives, etc. to be presented Monday Sept. 29,2003 at the Commission IV Meeting.
