2015/18 Options First step in their 14 – 19 education or training. Results at 16 open or close the doors for their next step. All GCSE exams at the end of Y11.
Core subjects English – Language and Literature Mathematics Science – at least core and additional Geography or History PDS – RE Relationship education Drugs, alcohol and safety Citizenship Finance, law and citizenship ICT PE
Pathways. Equal value, but with small differences to suit the students. All pathways have choices within them Provides an experience that stimulates, motivates and extends ALL learners as well as preparing them for their next step.
Blue pathway Core curriculum - English, Maths, Science, Geography/History 2 vocational courses which are equivalent to GCSEs 1 support class - developing essential basic skills
Green pathway Core curriculum - English, Maths, Science, Geography/History 1 vocational courses equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* - C. 1 other course which maybe GCSEs or other equivalents.
Red pathway Core curriculum - English, Maths, Science, Geography/History, MFL Pupils get two other choices from GCSEs or equivalents.
Purple pathway Core curriculum - English, Maths, Science, Geography/History, MFL Allows the students to achieve the English Baccalaureate Pupils get two other choices one of which will be a GCSE equivalent.
How will pupils be guided? Professional, realistic judgement. The pathway will be relative to their ability, strengths and learning style. Achievement, attainment and predictive data will be used. Pastoral input. Parental input. Individual decisions.
