IWBAT effectively incorporate quotes from primary and secondary sources into my writing. Take out one sheet of paper and each person in the group take turns writing down one thing that you learned from yesterday’s lesson on Absolute Monarchs

Primary and Secondary Sources What is a primary source? What is a secondary source? Why do we need to use these in historical writing?

Activity: Practice answering questions and finding evidence to support You are going to conduct a gallery walk on 4-5 quotes on the paper you’ve been given Each station will be labeled with the document it represents As a group I want you to answer the question with each passage and choose a quote that supports the answer you gave and write both on the station paper and your own! If you get to a station that has an answer and quote you agree with mark it on your paper and put a check next to the quote and answer on the station paper.

Practice the Skill As a class we will read the article “Effectively Incorporating Quotations” As an individual you will practice finding quotes and answer the questions left on your sheet. I will circulate to check for your understanding.

Exit Slip I want you to write a 4 paragraph essay explaining Absolutism. The breakdown should be as follows: An introductory paragraph introducing your topic Body paragraph giving an example of an Absolute Monarch, with quotes to backup your explanation. (Could be used to give negative impacts of Absolute Monarchy) Body paragraph giving another example of an Absolut Monarch, with quotes to backup your explanation (Could be used to give positive impacts of Absolute Monarchy) Conclusion (Wrap up your thoughts on this topic. If you don’t feel like you could drop the mic after your last sentence, you need a stronger conclusion.)
