METHOD FOR IMAGING ASTEROIDS 1.Find the coordinates (ephemeris table) of where the asteroid is using JPL Horizons 2.Take images using the 16” RoR telescope using a Luminance filter 3.Open the images in DS9 4.Aligned the coordinates using Astrometry.net 5.Blinked the images and made a GIF of them

HERCULINA Discovered by Max Wolf in 1904 Inclination of 16.31° Exact mass uncertain 4.5 year orbit In main belt of asteroids About 260 km lengthwise, with a diameter of 225 km It is believed that Herculina is within the top 20 by size Not spherical “Resembles a beat up toaster” Has large craters

PALLAS Discovered by Heinrich Wilheim Matthäus Olbers in Pallas is a carbonaceous chondrite/C-Type Asteroid (rocky asteroid) Average distance from sun of 2.77 AU, orbiting around the sun every 4.6 Julian years. Mean diameter of 544 km. Inclination of 34.8°, highly irregular 7.8 hour day Surface is a silicate material that is low in iron and water.
