Ash Hill Primary School Jennifer Gamble

What have we done? We have begun to improve progress and attainment Some of the statistics look significantly improved (L4+ maths from 39% in 2006 to 74% in 2010), but... CVA is still below 100, and there’s still lots to do!

Raised Standards of Teaching Spring 2009 Focus School due to inadequate teaching Now all teaching is at least satisfactory, the majority good and some outstanding All the usual stuff....AfL, Interaction, S&L, Feedback & Marking, Curriculum Targets Harnessed the ISP support High Expectations & Consistency

Staff Moving staff on Vs. Staff moving on Sept 2009: Six new class teachers, 5 of whom were NQTs Growing the NQTs and keeping the good ones Recruitment

Leadership Structure Phase leadership, with regular meetings Leading learning Ensuring consistency Developing the leaders Monitoring

Learning Culture Visible priorities- sharing with the children what we’re trying to improve Increasing the visibility of English and Maths Parental involvement Physical environment Power of Assemblies Learning Wall

Learning Culture Handwriting & Presentation Book Banding Display Manners Behaviour & Attendance Created Traditions Learning Champions: it’s all about Progress!

Learning Champions are awarded a t-shirt to wear and appear on the ‘Hall of Fame’ outside the headteacher’s office, along with all the pupils who were nominated that term.

Consistency: The Ash Hill Way Supported by the leadership structure Policies & procedures Moderation, joint working Whole staff (& governors) approach The Schedule Assessment, Tracking, Catching children up...Is What We DO

The Future Continue it all! Move all teaching to at least good Self-evaluation Peer working Leadership development Curriculum Development
