Cretaceous Period John Bonsol Maricarmen Velazquez Noemi Medina

Plants During the Cretaceous Period, flowering plants (angiosperm) started to appear. The evolution of flowering plants caused the evolution of bees. The evolution of plants and bees is an example of co evolution.

Examples of Plant Fossils

Climate Volcanic activity caused a rise in temperature in the Cretaceous Period. Volcanoes not only caused a rise temperature, they also made large amounts of carbon dioxide. The Cretaceous Period was wetter then the Jurassic Period. Snow also appeared in arctic regions.

Examples of Climate

Animals There were many types of animals in the Cretaceous, dinosaurs; mammals; flying reptiles; marine reptiles; and birds. Both marine and flying reptiles are not dinosaurs. Scientists believe that the dinosaurs went extinct because they became too well adapted to their environment.

Examples of animal fossils

Events The most important event in the cretaceous was when the dinosaurs went extinct. There are many theories on how they went extinct, but most people believe that a meteor crashed into Earth. An other event in the Cretaceous was when the climate change

Meteor Crashing into Earth

Interesting Facts Dinosaurs were the main species during the Cretaceous Period. After the Cretaceous, mammals became the dominant species. The Cretaceous was when the dinosaurs went extinct. As mentioned in the animals slide, marine and flying reptiles are not dinosaurs.
