The Issue -Animal feeds are a critical input into primary industry -Provide a direct exposure pathway -Risks present across multiple areas (bio, chem, trade, security, safety) -Amalgamation of MAF systems – disjointed -Multiple regulations, programmes and interfaces

Issues Current controls: Biosecurity (meat and food waste for pigs) Ruminant Protein Regulations Hydatids Controlled Area Import Health Standards ACVM Regulations for ONC’s (COP and Doc Sys) APA Risk Management Programmes

Primary Objective To develop a comprehensive and integrated risk management programme for the animal feeds sector: All of sector All hazards approach Intervention logic (what and why) Existing and new regulatory controls (effective) Compliance and enforcement strategies

Considerations The Review will consider all hazards including: Biosecurity (FMD, TSE’s, PRR’s, Hydatids) Food Safety (Salmonella, Trichinellosis) Chemicals (residues)
