SHILOH (published in 1991) Type of book: children, drama BY: Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

 There's a little boy in a little town, its old and has a small population. He lives in a farm and works at small store close by his house and is around grass lands and hills.

 Marty Preston is 11 years old and loves dogs. He’s a hard worker and has long blond hair.  Shiloh is a beagle, he is brown and has a white stomach and black nose.  Judd Travers is a cranky old man that likes too hunt, he abuses his dogs and doesn't care about anyone.

 The problem of the story is that the kid really likes the dog but it isn't his and the owner of the dog treats him like poop. Whehn the dog runs away and the boy finds it he has to give it back or then the grumpy old man owner will go to his house and take it away.

 The kid tells the owner that he will work for him to get the dog and the owner agrees. When the kid was done working the man said he wasn’t going give him the dog and the kid dint listen. The man came to his house to take it away but when he got there the kid talked to him, and told him if he even has a heart.

 I though the book was really good and had a good story to it. I dint like the old man because he treated his animals bad. The kids dad was mean at the begging but then he liked the dog so the dad is pretty awesome! The mom is cool because she really dint care about the dog at the beginning, and the doctor that helped Shiloh is freaking beast because he helped for free.
