AMES Core Courses Include: Marine Science 1 Marine Science 2 Environmental Science or AP Environmental Science Internship

AMES Activities and Programs: World Ocean Watch Forest Watch Sea Turtle Program Clean Beaches Campaign SCUBA Club Reef Restoration Field Trips to Everglades and Biscayne Nature Center Beach High Native Plant Restoration Project Competitions

World Ocean Watch: Field trips to study local habitats Use NASA satellite technology to monitor environmental issues Film, TV, and media production Develop strategies to address local marine and environmental issues

SCUBA Club: Swimming and diving certification Dive trips for WOW activities Local reef study and restoration Underwater filming and video production

Turtle Program: We work directly with the turtle permit holder for Miami Dade Parks Locate, monitor, and film nesting sites on Miami Beach Develop and maintain a data base for government agencies Design programs for education and awareness

Clean Beaches Campaign: We work with the city to promote and monitor clean beaches and waterways We partner with ECOMB (Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach)

Complete an application Available in Room 3753 or download from the school’s website Obtain proper signatures and see Mr. Guthrie in Room 3753 Sign up for the correct AMES course Marine 1 if you are a new academy student Marine 2 if you have taken Marine 1 Environmental Science or AP if you have completed both Marine Science courses
