Outcomes:  Grow your professional network;  Collaborate to help each other address individual leadership challenges;  Identify critical conditions for implementation of successful teacher leadership;  Analyze challenging legal issues;  Explore time management strategies to support a better leadership-life fit; and  Discuss how to provide effective feedback.

Learning Community: Leadership Dilemma Consultancy

Protocol  Leader who has traveled the farthest will be the first presenter  Timekeeper/facilitator will be the person to the left of the presenter  Presenter shares an overview of the dilemma and poses his/her focus question. 3 MINUTES

Protocol  Consultancy Group asks clarifying questions – those with brief, factual answers.  Consultancy Group asks probing questions:  Worded to help presenter clarify and expand his/her thinking about the dilemma presented to the group.  Help presenter analyze the dilemma. 3 MINUTES

Protocol  Consultancy Group talks with each other about the dilemma presented while the presenter listens and takes notes:  What did we hear?  What didn’t we hear that might be relevant?  What assumptions seem to be operating?  What questions does the dilemma raise for us?  What do we think about the dilemma?  What might we do or try if faced with a similar dilemma? What have we done in similar situations? 5 MINUTES

Protocol  Presenter reflects on what he/she heard and on what he/she is now thinking, sharing with the group anything that particularly resonated during the consultancy. 5 MINUTES  Rotate to second presenter. Rotate

Preparing for Change  How will teacher leaders contribute to the school’s vision for school improvement?  How will teacher leaders “drum up” business?  What will you delegate and what will you share?  What do your teacher leaders know about adult learners?  How has your schedule been adjusted to support teacher leaders in working with staff both one-on-one and in groups? To support teacher leaders in collaborating with each other? To support teacher leaders in professional learning? To support teacher leaders in meeting with the principal?

Team Talk  Connect with those who have read your same article.  Share your Magnet Summaries.  Determine which magnet words and associated details you will share back with your table groups and record on the Summaries Table.  Return to home base group and share summaries.
