Preparation of the Body Factors affecting Training

There are several factors that will affect the success of your training programme. These are: Boredom Fatigue Variation Motivation Goal Setting

Boredom In order for you to want to continue to improve, you must ensure that you do not become bored during your training programme. This can be done by using a variety of drills and routines within each session. You may also decide to use a combination of both activity specific (on-court) training and fitness specific (off-court) training to maintain your interest

Fatigue Your training programme must be set at the correct intensity for improvement to occur. Over-training can result in injury and fatigue Over-training can result in injury and fatigue You must allow for both rest days and rest periods within your training

Motivation and Goal Setting Motivation You must want to continue to improve performance. By setting both short term as well as long term goals, you give yourself achievable targets that sustain your interest. Variation will also help maintain your level of interest. Goal- Setting As you work through your programme, your body will adapt to the new workload and your short term goals will be achieved. You must continue to reset achievable and realistic goals to maintain your motivation.
