Presentation transcript:

Even though divorce is easy to get nowadays like never before a lot of people still choose to stay in an unhappy and unhealthy relationship. Why?

Children Many people think that two parents, even though unhappy, are better than one and that divorce will negatively affect their children. But they don’t realize that their frequent fights, arguments with each other, loveless angry environment can affect kids as well just as bad as a divorce.

Financial Dependency/Money In most marriages there is financial dependence of one spouse on the other. So the person who earns less or doesn’t work at all is scared to leave the relationship since it may bring a huge discomfort. For other people it is the price of that may justify staying.

Habit/Fear of Change People have always been afraid of change, so they prefer to stay in an unhappy marriage because they don’t have to stress about finding a new place to live, a new job or how to start dating again. They find security in their marriage and would not want to step out of their comfort zone even if they are unhappy.

Social Pressure People stay married because they hate to be judged and gossiped about. They don’t want to be losers. They just don’t want to admit that they have made a mistake or failed. They don’t want to be looked down upon.

Our Goal This issue needs to be raised and discussed. People should know there are options. A lot of people stay in such marriage because they lack knowledge of the help they can get. And we avoid talking about it, because we don’t want to encourage divorce in our society. Divorce is definitely one of the hardest things a person may go through during their lifetime but if it benefits everybody and makes people happier than they were before then why not?

After all, isn’t it the purpose of our life to be happy?
