The reason why this song interests me is because it not only relates to me, but everyone who has ever been in a relationship.
In this song, Beyoncé plays as an unbiased musician who presents a song that attracts a larger audience than most. She doesn’t use the words, such as, he or she that leads the audience to believe she's being biased against a certain gender. This song mainly describes a Rhetorical Situation that attracts any type of audience due to the fact that most everyone has been, or will be, in a relationship. Beyoncé uses a poem-like structure through out her lyrics to make the audience stop and think about what she is saying. She hardly has any punctuation other than a few commas. This represents that her thoughts are all jumbled together, and it describes the way she is feeling. One of the lines in this song is “thank god I dodge the bullet”. She uses the word “bullet” to describe what it feels like when relationships go bad, and that if you stay in an unhealthy relationship it can feel like someone punctured your skin with a bullet. She's thankful that she dodged the bullet before the relationship got out of control.
