Community Service Kenny Heller

Why Do Community Service?  Community is a good way to make an impact in your community.  Community service can make you feel like you did something that may have a lasting effect on another individual.  It looks good on resumes.

Spring Semester Community Service Projects

About Goodwill  Goodwill is one of the world’s largest nonprofit providers of education, training, and career services for people with disadvantages, such as welfare dependency, homelessness, and lack of education or work experience, as well as those with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Last year, local Goodwills collectively provided employment and training services to more than 720,000 individuals.

About Goodwill  The clothing and household goods you donate are sold in over 2,000 Goodwill retail stores and on our Internet auction site, shopgoodwill.com. The revenues fund job training and other services to prepare people for job success. shopgoodwill.comshopgoodwill.com  Goodwill also generates income helping businesses fill gaps caused by labor shortages, time constraints and limited space or equipment. We train and employ contract workers to fill outsourced needs for document management, assembly, mailing, custodial work, groundskeeping and more

What I Did at Goodwill First, I had to move enormous boxes of clothes to the workroom of Goodwill.

After the boxes were moved to the work room, I had to shovel the clothes into a compacting machine.

After the clothing was compacted, we had to haul the hundreds of pounds of clothing to be stacked and ready to be put on a truck and shipped off.

I got to sort through some old toys. Needless to say, I was very amused by this.

How Do I Feel About The Job I Did  This was a very good opportunity.  I did not get to work directly with individuals, but I do feel that I had some sort of impact on someone's life in some sort of way.
