NSTP PLUS History of NSTP as a Law The youth’s active participation in the call for a more relevant education has pushed the government to revise the National Service Law. Republic Act 9163 or the National Service Training Program Act of 2001 was signed into law by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. This serves as an amendment to RA7077 (AFP Reservist Act) and PD1706 (National Service Law). It provides alternatives to the previous Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program, which was a 2-year military training course exclusive for male students.

NSTP PLUS The NSTP Preparatory Leadership Undertaking for Sophomores (PLUS) is the non-academic formation program for second year college students. It aims to provide holistic development and formation to students in the four key areas: personal and interpersonal development, spiritual development, social and cultural formation and leadership development. NSTP PLUS is an integrated student social formation effort among various Loyola Schools offices such as the Office for Social Concern and Involvement (OSCI), the Office of the Campus Ministry (OCM), the Office for Guidance and Counselling (OGC), and the Associate Dean for Student Affairs (ADSA).

NSTP PLUS OBJECTIVES The students are expected to... Effectively apply their knowledge and skills, and manage themselves in relation to others; Experience God as a God of love and mercy; Develop social and service orientation by nurturing a community of fellow Ateneans and fostering continuous and sustained interaction with the world outside, Be exposed to leadership styles that inspire, move, and empower.

Civic Welfare Training Service NSTP PLUS COMPONENTS provides students opportunities to participate in various civic activities in their assigned community or institution. Thus, promoting unified efforts in addressing felt needs in their specific area.

Literacy Training Service NSTP PLUS COMPONENTS students engage in Tutorial and Literacy Enhancement Services in public schools, communities and parishes promoting education among underprivileged grade school and high school students.

Military Training Service NSTP PLUS COMPONENTS is designed to provide military training to tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for national defense preparedness. This program is implemented by the Ateneo Department of Air Science and Tactics (ADAST).

Students should submit an absence report (supporting documents attached) for each absence from activities scheduled outside the enrolled NSTP schedule due to academic reasons (e.g. long tests, exams, make-up classes, film showings or plays etc.). The absence report form should be submitted 2 days before if such cut is foreseen and 2 days after if it is unforeseen. For community insertions, students are not allowed to proceed directly to the area.

policies UNIFORM Students are required to wear the appropriate NSTP Uniform (NSTP shirt, jeans, closed shoes, and nametag) during community insertions. A student will be given a warning if he/she failed to follow the above mentioned policy for the first time. For the succeeding violations, the students will be marked absent.
