No definition for clinical supervision is being used 25% of Trusts have not defined clinical supervision A traditional definition for clinical supervision has been in place for some time 50% of Trusts have followed this approach More modern approaches to supervision are reflected in definitions other than for clinical supervision e.g. action learning 25% of Trusts have moved beyond a definition for clinical supervision and focus on defining other approaches to learning and development e.g. critical inquiry, clinical support and learning

Recently addressing the importance of implementing effective supervision frameworks Around 65% of Trusts are working to develop an organisational framework for supervision activities that encompass a range of models Appears to be lagging behind in terms of an apparent lack of organisational impetus around supervision activity Around 30% of Trusts would appear to fall into this category

In some areas enthusiasm is limited, mixed or sporadic The majority of Trusts suggest there has been a renewed and growing interest in supervision The term ‘clinical supervision’ is no longer used by a number of Trusts There is concern for some, that a focus on performance review and KSF is reducing emphasis on supervision
