STEP #2 CALL

CALL Calling for help often is the most important action you can take to help an injured or ill person. What does calling do? By calling 9-1-1, a dispatcher, the person that answers the call, sends emergency medical help on its way to the scene as fast as possible.

WHY CALL 9-1-1? As a general rule, call if the person has any of the following conditions: UnconsciousBreathing Problems Chest Pain/DiscomfortSevere Burns Persistent Abdominal PainPoisoning Vomiting BloodFire/Explosion SeizuresStroke Head/Neck/Spine Injury Motor Vehicle Accidents

Deciding To Call First or Care First If you are ALONE: Call First, call 9-1-1, for: 1. Any adult or child who is unconscious. 2. A child or infant who you witnessed suddenly collapse. 3. An unconscious child or infant known to heart problems.

CALL OR CARE FIRST (C0NT.) CARE FIRST, give 2 minutes of care, then call for: 1. An unconscious child who you did not see collapse. 2. Any drowning victim.
