Session Objectives The purpose of this session is to: -Review what constitutes an exemption -Explain what you can expect from RIDE visits -Answer your outstanding NECAP questions

All students enrolled in the school as of October 1, 2011 are required to participate with the following exceptions: Students who completed the alternate assessment for the school year. Recently arrived LEP students first enrolled in any U.S. school after October 1, 2010 are not required to take the NECAP reading and writing tests. A student may only be exempted from the reading and writing tests one time. However, these students must take the NECAP mathematics test. Students who have state-approved special considerations. Procedure for approval for special considerationsContact RI state-approved special considerations are for cases involving 1) a medical emergency or serious illness; 2) severe emotional distress; 3) a family emergency; 4) eligible students enrolling after the RIAA registration deadline; or 5) eligible RI students placed out-of-state. Applicable “State-Approved Special Consideration” forms (available on the RIDE website) must be completed and submitted to RIDE to obtain approval. Requests must be submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25th, Dr. Kevon Tucker-Seeley Special Considerations
RIDE Visits The goal is to visit each LEA at least once Schools were chosen at random, unless there were violations of test administration procedures last year Building leaders will be contacted the day before visit RIDE staff will observe test administration RIDE staff will interview building administrator RIDE staff will interview test administrator Visit protocol is posted on website
8 1.Refer to your copy of the Test Administrator Manual. 2.If you still have questions or need clarification after reading the Test Administrator Manual, or if you need additional test materials, contact your test coordinator. 3.If your test coordinator has questions about test materials or administration procedures, the test coordinator should contact the NECAP Service Center at , Monday through Friday, between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. 4.If your test coordinator has a question about a particular testing situation, test security, or a policy, the test coordinator should contact Dr. Kevon Tucker-Seeley at RIDE.
