22 Introduction This session will focus on Image Basics in Design. We will review design terminology and principles that will enable you to gather the best collateral for your clients’ ads. Our goal is to position you as a digital consultant for your advertiser when it comes to gathering and providing collateral assets, as well as arm you with design-trade expertise in dealing with agencies and other creative design houses.

5 Definitions BITMAP An image that is made up of pixel information Common file types that contain bitmaps: JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP For Best Results, use bitmap files when providing photos VECTOR A geometry- based image that is made up of points, lines, curves, fills and gradients Common file types that contain vector: PSD, TIF, EPS For Best Results, use vector files when providing logos, drawings or illustrations

6 Definitions PIXEL A pixel is a unit of measure used for web. It is a tiny square that contains color information IMAGE RESOLUTION The visual quality or clarity of your image DPI Dots Per Inch. A measure of printing resolution; also referred to as “Pixels Per Inch” in reference to web
