Density Stuff
Units Mass is measured in grams or g. Volume is measured in milliliters (ml) for liquids, and cubic centimeters (cm 3 ) for solids. So, since we use the m/v formula for density, the unit for density is either g/ml, or g/ cm 3.
Comparing Mass and Volume The density of water is a “standard” that we use to compare the density all other matter. The density if water is 1 g/ml. If the mass is higher than the volume, the object will SINK in water, because the density is more than 1. If the mass is lower than the volume, the object will float in water, because the density is less than 1.
