READING SCRIPTURE THE STORIES IN SCRIPTURE TELL US ABOUT: THE PEOPLE WE WERE; THE PEOPLE WE ARE; THE PEOPLE WE CAN BE. Catholics read Scripture contextually: We look for the ‘truth’ or ‘lesson’ We learn about the time it was written We believe it is inspired by God and written by humans. Other Christians read Scripture literally: They look for what it says exactly They understand it the same way today They believe it is the exact word of God provided to humans.

Find a group of 3-4 (facilitator, recorder, reporter x2); In the group, think of as many stories from the Bible (Old or New Testament) as you can; Write the name of the story on a sticky note; When you have as many as you can think of, place them in order; Prepare to share them with the class.
