CHILDREN NOT GETTING AN EDUCATION / There are many reasons children do not attend school. / They have no way to get to school / They are poor / They have to travel into the city to work to earn money to help their family / Or they have no time to go to school because they have walk several miles to fetch water / This leads to many children never learning to read or write. / There are many reasons children do not attend school. / They have no way to get to school / They are poor / They have to travel into the city to work to earn money to help their family / Or they have no time to go to school because they have walk several miles to fetch water / This leads to many children never learning to read or write.

Afraid to Speak Out for Their Rights / Many children are unable to speak out for themselves. / It is the job of kids like you and me and other global citizens to speak for these children. / For example in Haiti it costs as little as $300 to attend school for a year. Think about it - for the price of a Wii and one game, you could send a child to school for a year giving the chance to learn to read and write. / Many children are unable to speak out for themselves. / It is the job of kids like you and me and other global citizens to speak for these children. / For example in Haiti it costs as little as $300 to attend school for a year. Think About It / We have learned many things about child labor, education and child rights. We’ve learned that many children in Ethiopia struggle to survive everyday. / A lot of times children in America pout and wine about going to school, but in Ethiopia it’s a privilege for them. So quit whining and pouting about going to school. Be thankful and happy that you have the chance to go to school for free. / We have learned many things about child labor, education and child rights.
