History & Background 1970s a survey of historic buildings recognises the importance of Dragon Hall 1983 The Norfolk & Norwich Heritage Trust was formed- restoration, fundraising. £400k raised by the trust and £1.4m was secured from HLF Refurbishment cost £1.8m

Development of Dragon Hall The aim of the redevelopment project was to Improve accessibility Provide new interpretation Develop flexible spaces for events New catering facilities Architects – Lucas Hickman Smith, builders Bluestone, interpretation PLB

Dragon Hall following development

Business Plan The original business plan relied on Dragon Hall generating 70% of its income from visitors and 30% from hire activities. In 2012 Dragon Hall raised only 5% of its income from visitors/admission but raised 35% from weddings 33% from events, hire and courses 11% from grants 6% from shop income,donations & gift aid 7% from rental income 3% from formal learning.

2013 – 2015 Business Plan Achieve Accreditation. To significantly increase income through a range of revenue streams, external funding and sponsorship in order to become financially sustainable. To increase visitor numbers and develop existing and new audiences. To improve the volunteer programme in order to attract and retain volunteers.

Sustainability Dragon Hall’s main income stream is weddings. This has been achieved over some years and has involved investment in skills, training, equipment and marketing.

Sources of Income Dragon Hall is constantly trying to increase income through other income streams such as events. We are looking to increase income through income streams such as music events. Grants and trusts – important to Dragon Hall. Challenges of maintaining a grade I listed building.
