Big Huge Labs Guided Lesson

If you were going to create an advertisement would you use a billboard or a trading card? A billboard would be used for an advertisement. If you were going to share information about an informational topic, would you use a billboard or a trading card? A trading card would be used to share information about an informational topic.

Creating a billboard advertisement:

Step 1: Accessing Billboard Students will go to Big Huge Find the project “Billboard” and click on it.

Step 2: Inserting picture from sample pictures Click on Browse

Click on Pictures

Double click on the file Sample Pictures

When file is open, have the students choose one picture together to insert. Everyone must choose the same picture. Double click on the picture they all agree on. This will insert picture file into the browse box. Double click on the picture of choice.

Finally click “Upload”. This picture will not change until you click “create” at the end.

Step 3: Inserting text Leave Billboard style: Roadside

Here they need to decide whole group how they want to advertise the picture. What is the purpose of advertising? Ask them what would they like to say. Ex. Buy Live Tulips at ABCNursery.com Type that in the box.

In the last box they need to decide what they want to say to persuade the reader to buy. Ex. Always beautiful and colorful! Type that here.

They can change the color of the font here. Why would white not be a good choice?

Step 4 Create final product Finally, when you are finished and ready to see your product, click on the blue box at the very end that says

Making Changes: If students need to make any changes (maybe the color they chose doesn’t look good…) They will click on “Edit” to go back to the previous page to make changes.

Downloading product: Students will then download their product to their computer.

Step 1: Accessing Trading Card After going to the students will click on trading cards.

Step 2: Inserting picture from sample pictures As done in billboard, first click on the browse button.

Click on Pictures

Double click on the file “Sample Pictures”

When file is open, have the students choose one picture together to insert. Everyone must choose the same picture. Double click on the picture they all agree on. This will insert picture file into the browse box. Double click on the picture of choice.

Step 3: Inserting text First, insert title here, which would be name of topic or picture chosen. Ex. Penguins. Next, type the sub-title. Something more specific about topic. Ex. Birds Then, type information about the topic here. Ex. Penquins live in Antartica, etc.

Step 4: Choosing Style Let each student choose the Style they want to use. This is the background color. What would be best for the picture they chose? They will click here.

Step 5: Creating product When they finish making changes and check their work, the will click on the Create button to create final product.

Making Changes: If students need to make any changes (maybe the color they chose doesn’t look good…) They will click on “Edit” to go back to the previous page to make changes.

Downloading product: Students will then download their product to their computer.
