Investing In People as Educational Change Agents ITEEA’s STRATEGIC PLAN Years 2012 – 2015 Developed by ITEEA’s Board members using an outside consultant/leader in developing the guiding association priorities. Underlying concept – teaching technological literacy. Primary beneficiary – teachers teaching about technology, innovation, design, and engineering at the K-12 level.

Dynamics of the Plan To empower people who feel strongly about using common capabilities to do things that cannot be done by individuals. To identify and deliver a model profile career path of an ideal member and professional.

Three Phases of Your Career Phase 1: Establishing the basics for excellence Phase 2: Maximizing the power and promise Phase 3: Changing the conversation
Phase 1: Establishing the basics for excellence Establishing the basics for excellence in technology and engineering teaching. Helping the teacher during his/her first five years. Quest to create ideal course(s) program for classroom and laboratory.
Phase 2: Maximizing the power and promise Maximizing the power and promise of T&E beyond the individual school setting to position the field for excellence. Advocating beyond the classroom. Advancing programs through state/national association work.
Phase 3: Changing the conversation Changing the Conversation in pushing for more rigorous K- 12 technology and engineering education. Help state leaders in providing data-driven decision making. Gain influence with state leaders outside of the field.
Summary Three phases will promote: Allowing educators to grow and learn as they become key professionals working to make a difference. Assisting T&E educators in becoming involved in larger picture of education. Activities and experiences to follow a determined direction that will build a member into a leader.
