Population Patterns Pakistan is very diverse ethnically. The 5 major ethnic groups of Pakistan are Punjabis, Sindhis, Pashtuns, Mohajirs, and Baluchins. There are ethnic Bengalis in India as well but were they differ the most is in the religion they practice. In Bangladesh, most Bengali’s practice Islam, where as in India Bengali's are mostly Hindu. Sindhis Sindhis’ are a very small ethnic group. Within South Asia they only total around 225,000 people. The majority of Sindhis in Pakistan live around the port city of Karachi.

Density Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, even more so than India. Islam Islam is by far the most practiced religion in both Pakistan & Bangladesh. A Muslim dynasty dominated these territories from the 1500’s to the mid 1800’s. Conflicts in the region have arisen due to territorial disputes. After England declared both India and Pakistan to be independent countries, the Hindu prince who had ruled the territory of Kashmir fled to Delhi when Britain placed his kingdom in Muslim Pakistan. The prince signed over his territories to India, but Pakistan does not recognize the claim. There are still disputes over this region today.
