Request to the senate & response to APRA The Physical Education Department (PHED) received on March 8 th the recommendations made by the Academic Programs and Resource Allocation Committee (APRA) regarding the restructuring of our department. We have also received helpful input from other academic departments. We are asking that we be allowed time to evaluate the recommendations and to respond to requests for additional information by the Senate Committee and other departments, including but not limited to: Cost-benefit analysis of the restructuration of PHED Statement of academic value of PHED Vision statement for PHED

As we prepare our response, we are requesting Senate support for the following: Preserving the integrity of our current mission to maintain and develop a well-rounded curriculum in health, fitness and leadership education, which serves the personal and professional development of the SUNY Oneonta student body. That no major decisions be made regarding restructuring the Physical Education Department before the Academic Master Plan is completed, with the exception of transferring the Dance Minor to the Theater Department. The continuation of the current Minors and Certification programs under the guidance of the Physical Education Department. The latitude to continue to make curricular changes as determined appropriate by the PHED faculty to maintain the vitality of the Minors (such as adding new courses, making adjustments to current courses, and so on).
