Notebook Rules and Set-up

Yes, I have rules for your notebook too! Bring it to class EVERY DAY! Make sure your name and period number are somewhere in the front. Notebook checks will be done by me for completeness and organization. Extra credit checks will be done as well.

Have PLENTY of paper in it at all times. Make sure it has dividers. No Photocopies! Everything has to be in YOUR handwriting.

Do NOT let anyone borrow it for a test or quiz or notebook check!! I will be checking!

Don’t… -let someone borrow it! If they lose it, it is your fault. No excuses! _ try to pass a friend’s notebook off as yours. That is considered cheating and both you and your friend will receive equal consequences.

Sometimes… I may tell you to use your notebook on quizzes or tests,(NOT ALL OF THEM), It might be for the whole period or the last 15 minutes to check your work. P.S. On quiz/test days that I do allow it and you do not bring it to class, I will NOT issue a pass to your locker, bathroom, etc.

ü It is YOUR responsibility to keep it updated. Check the class assignment book for missed assignments, vocabulary, handouts, etc. Ask a friend!!

NOTEBOOK ORGANIZATION 1. Title and Date Everything! It will save you a lot of time in the long run. 2. Have divider tabs for the following sections: Warm-ups » Vocabulary » Notes » Classwork/homework » Tests/quizzes

Warm Ups Warm-ups: Label and date these! You will have a warm-up every day until the end of the year! Check the notebook under Warm-up section after any absence from class. This is YOUR responsibility.

Vocabulary: from notes, from the book etc. Grammar: Verbs, Notes in class on grammar, etc.

Classwork/Homework Classwork/Homework: Treasure Hunts, maps, worksheets, homework, etc. (I will pull things directly from homework and classwork to put on tests/quizzes)

Quizzes/Tests Quizzes/Tests: Project handouts/rubrics etc. ***Extras: You may wish to include a Geography/Culture section.

Lastly…. Ask me if you need help getting your notebook started. Ask me the best place to put something if you are not sure. DO NOT remove pages out of the Classroom Binder. That is for absent students. You will be absent at some point and will need to use it, so don’t disrespect it!
