Origin Amy Smith an engineer from MIT began experimenting with the ‘Solar Bottle Bulb’ technology after viewing volunteer work in Haiti. Through the development of this technology Illiac Diaz was able to begin the construction of ‘Solar Bottle Bulbs’ around the world.

Distribution: ‘Liter of Light’ mapped around the world

Distribution Continued: ‘Liter of Light’ is mapped unevenly across the world There are clusters around the Middle east and Southeast Asia The headquarters are located in Manila, Philippines

Philippines Liter of Light was launched in the Philippines in April of 2011. The two photos are of Filipino soldiers helping a Liter of Light team install some ‘Solar Bottle Bulbs’.

Uganda Liter of Light helped Uganda in June of 2012 These are participants in the World-Environment-Day learning the benefits of Solar energy

Peru Liter of Light got to Peru in October of 2011. These are photos of a family who built their own Liter of Light in Peru.

Diffusion Liter of Light has been able to install over 12,000 ‘Solar Bottle Bulbs’ in 10,000 homes across, mainly, Southeast Asia. With the help of his eight ‘teams’ and shared set of tools Illiac Diaz has been able to light up some of the darkest places around.

Additional Diffusion Assistance: Jerome Jarre; international Youtuber helped in a major way to get ‘Liter of “Lights’ message out to the world. With his popularity among Snapchat and Vine he was able to involve his many fans in the phenomena.

Thesis: Even though there is an abundance of underdeveloped and underprivileged places and people in the world there are still not any solutions to help these people live in habitable areas. ‘Liter of Light’ is a program that helps to make these areas better for these people. Through this program we can also help to severely lower the amount of waste that has been piling up in these areas.
