Assertive Mentoring our next step forward…

What is Assertive Mentoring? Tracking: Our children are assessed every half term Our children are assessed every half term Target Setting: Target Setting: They are set learning targets, based on what they They are set learning targets, based on what they need to learn next need to learn next Support: The targets are given to the parents/carers, so they know how best to support their child’s learning. The child has a mentor meeting, so they can celebrate their successes and discuss their next steps in learning Assessment: Children then re-assessed during the next half term

Why use Assertive Mentoring ? Assertive Mentoring: What and When? Each child will have a Each child will have a Mentor. This will usually be their Class Teacher They will meet every term Mentor Meetings last 15 minutes Meetings may include parents and children The child’s next steps in learning are discussed (their targets) The child’s targets are stuck in their book The parents get a copy, so parents know how best to help their child Children are assessed every half term and their targets are set, based on those assessments
