Objective: To explain how the structure of a polymer affects its properties.

How are plastics used? Look at the selection of things made from polymers. List each of the polymers properties and its use: e.g. Bucket: strong, hard, slightly flexible, withstand heat. Used for holding heavy objects or liquid

Properties depend on: The structure of the polymer. I.e. if it is in straight chains or branched. The conditions used for polymerisation

Different types of plastics, what would happen if they were placed into hot water? Why? – link your ideas to the diagrams below.
