Presentation He was born on 23 January 1950 in Minneapolis (USA) in the state of Minnesota, so he is 62 years old. Minneapolis is a big city in the North of America with about inhabitants. He lived in Minneapolis up to the age of 17. He is the eldest of a family of 4 boys. His father, Stuart Anderson was an English and drama teacher in a High School, he was also a jazz bassist. His mother, Jocelyn, was a talented painter and sculptress.

His childhood Richard loves sports, especially ice-hockey. Like a lot of boys of Minnesota, Richard dreamt of becoming a professionnal hockey player. But at 16 years old, he broke his two arms in 2 different accidents. That put an end to his dream becoming a professional player. Richard Dean Anderson loves adventure, exploration,... At 17 years old he traveled on bike from his home to the East cost, crossing Canada to Alaska. He cycled 5641 miles (9 078 km).

His career He settled in Los Angeles where he worked as a street artist (as a mimic and juggler), he sang in a cabaret, he also worked for Marineland where he wrote, produced and played in shows. After that he played in theatres, he sang and played the guitar in a group «Ricky Dean and Dante» with his friend Carl Dante. In 1985, Richard signed up to play Mac Gyver on the ABC channel. He played Mac Gyver for 7 years. He played a clever and an adventure hero.

Career continuation After that he made few films such as In the Eyes of a Stranger, Through the Eyes of a Killer in 1992 and in 1994 Beyond Betrayal. He played in another serie Stargate SG-1, he was the main actor (colonel Jack O’neill). It’s a science fiction series with aliens & a lot of galaxies. It was like Stars Wars where they could travel to lot of galaxies. This new series began in Febuary 1997 in Vancouver and finished in the summer of 2007.

Christopher Judge, Amanda Tapping, Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks form the SG-1 team. Christopher Judge (Teal’c) is a Jaffa,in other words an alien, Amanda Tapping (capitain Samantha Carter) is an astrophysicist and an expert in star doors, Richard Dean Anderson (Colonel Jack O’Neill) manage the SG-1 team and Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) is an expert in ancient history.
