Presentation transcript:

ECG ECG or Electro Cardiogram records the electrical activity of the heart ECG is done in the following patients 1. Cardiac 2. Diabetic 3. Asthmatic 4. Hypertensives In general all patients with systemic problems should take this test

WHAT IS A LEAD ? It is an electrode placed on the body There are a total of 12 leads 1. Limb leads 2. Chest leads 3. Augmented leads

C1-right 4 th intercostal space of sternum C2- left 4 th intercostal space of sternum C3-midway between c2 and c4 C4-midcavicuar line C5-anterior axillary line C6-mid axillary line Limb Leads L1,L2,L3

Augmented leads-avR,avl,avF Chest leads – c1 to c6 Chart speed -5,10,25,50 mm/sec STANDARDIZATION Necessary for good recording Voltage measurement Good standardization ECG speed-25 mm/sec

ECG PAPER MEASUREMENT ECG is a graph paper of 1mm and 5mm squares ECG 1mm =0.04 second duration
