Aims & Learning Outcomes Aim This session is designed to help participants further develop their understanding of how to incorporate stretch and challenge and evidencing individual learning when planning sessions.

Aims & Learning Outcomes what is meant by the term ‘stretch and challenge’ different ways in which stretch and challenge can be achieved in sessions the importance of being able to identify what learners are learning in sessions different ways in which learning can be evidenced the link to session learning outcomes and the importance of clearly defined learning outcomes. Learning Outcomes As a result of attending this workshop participants should be better able to describe and explain:

Time to Focus Having listened to the Aims and Objectives, think about what you most want to get from this session? Please now write this down.

What is meant by the term ‘stretch and challenge’ ? “I am learning all the time. The tombstone will be my diploma.” ~Eartha Kitt

Stretch and Challenge? How can we link session learning outcomes and stretch and challenge? 1. All learners should be able to describe what is meant by the term ‘stretch and challenge’. 2. Most learners should be able to Some learners should be able to

Stretch and Challenge? Linking session learning outcomes and stretch and challenge. In what learning contexts do you use differentiated learning outcomes? Are there learning contexts where the use of differentiated learning outcomes is not relevant – if yes examples please.

Stretch and Challenge? 1. How can we use questioning to achieve stretch & challenge ?

Stretch and Challenge? Questioning Techniques Bloom's taxonomy questions. These include: Knowledge – describe, identify, who, when, where. Comprehension – translate, predict, why. Application – demonstrate how, solve, try it in a new context. Analysis – explain, infer, analysis. Synthesis – design, create, compose. Evaluation – assess, compare/contrast, judge.

Stretch and Challenge? 1. Time. 2. Complexity. 3. Resource availability. 4. Support available. 5. Output volume. Explain how the parameter you have selected can be used to create stretch in a learning context.

Aims & Learning Outcomes what is meant by the term ‘stretch and challenge’ different ways in which stretch and challenge can be achieved in sessions Learning Outcomes As a result of attending this workshop participants should be better able to describe and explain:

Learning Review Think about the topic we have just covered? Take a moment to make a note of how you will use what we have just looked at in your teaching? Comments or thoughts on what we have just looked at.

Aims & Learning Outcomes the importance of being able to identify what learners are learning in sessions different ways in which learning can be evidenced the link to session learning outcomes and the importance of clearly defined learning outcomes. Learning Outcomes As a result of attending this workshop participants should be better able to describe and explain:

Session Planning – learning outcomes and evidencing learning has taken place? “I am learning all the time. The tombstone will be my diploma.” ~Eartha Kitt

Formative Assessment. All formative assessment tasks and activities in a given session, must first and foremost link specifically to which one of the following and why? 1. teaching activities in the session 2. resource deployment and use 3. session learning outcomes 4. Internet accessibility 5. Learning Support Assistant deployment.

Formative Assessment & Learning Outcomes Which of the following are well written session learning outcomes & which are not? By the end of the session learners should:  have completed tasks 1 to 17 on the session worksheet  be able to describe the first 4 steps in the development of a tele-marketing campaign  have improved their understanding of cognitive reasoning theories  progressed to stage two in their project  be able to successfully complete stage 1 force and friction calculations.

Formative Assessment How many different methods of checking (assessing) if and how well learners are learning in a session can you identify?

Creative Formative Assessment Example Clue: Magpies do not only live in trees – 3 words 11 letters in total. Answer: St James’ Park
