Presentation transcript:

*Work with your group members to answer the following questions on a piece of notebook paper : 1.) What is a biome? 2.) List at least 6 of the Earth’s major biomes. 3.) What abiotic and biotic factors affect the Earth’s major biomes?

Biomes For Sale! Each team will be assigned a biome by the teacher. It is the team's job to research and gather facts and information about that biome. It is your job to convince your classmates why they should move to the biome.

Biomes For Sale! Follow the rubric provided by your instructor as you create an appealing poster that convinces your classmates why your team’s biome is the best place to live! Each member must contribute to the creation of the poster and the presentation (ex. researcher, poster maker, presenter)

Biomes For Sale! Each group member must write one short paragraph (4-5 sentences) describing how the biotic and abiotic factors affect their biome. In other words, how do the biotic and abiotic factors contribute to the classification of the biome?

**FOLLOW THE RUBRIC AS YOU RESEARCH AND CREATE YOUR POSTER!

Laptop Procedures 1.) You are to only be on websites that are related to the topic you are researching – For example…if you are researching biomes you should not be on Infinite Campus checking your grades or playing games. – Group will be deducted 5 points from the total points (35) each time that the rule is violated 2.) When you are done with the laptop, shut it down correctly and place it back on the cart where you found it…MAKE SURE IT IS PLUGGED INTO A CHARGER

How do Abiotic and Biotic Factors affect the Earth’s Major Biomes? Biotic and abiotic factors determine biome classification (Is the biome a tropical rainforest? A tundra? A desert?) Biotic and abiotic factors determine the survival and growth of an organism and the productivity of the ecosystem in which the habitat lives. For example: If there is little or no sunlight then plants may wither away and die from not being able to get enough sunlight  tundra
