Self-paced Learning and Scientific The required condition for self-paced learning is not a talent but motivation. Science endeavor is too broad to be trained like a discipline where only one ability matters. That is why students' science competitions fail to prove their relevance. Guiding and tracking motivated students is a hard challenge for mentors. Experience of Petnica Science Center shows that students' responsibility for their own learning is crucial for dynamics of learning through research. Great advantage of research-based learning is that "discoveries" can be local and adjustable for students of all backgrounds.
