Titles In Chinese, titles go after people’s surname. It is very impolite to call senior people by their first name. Mr. Lee  李先生 Miss Wang  王小姐 General titles (e.g. client, stranger) Male 老先生 > 先生 > 小弟 > 小朋友 Female 老太太 > 女士 > 小姐 > 小妹 > 小朋友 3

Titles for more familiar people e.g. neighbors, best friends’ family 爺爺 > 伯伯 > 叔叔 > 大哥 > 小 X (surname) 奶奶 > 伯母 > 阿姨 > 大姐 > 小 X (surname) Difference: 伯伯 : he is older than my father 叔叔 : he is younger than my father 大哥 : he is older than me, a lot younger than my father 4
