 Explore beliefs about teaching arts education  The role of the classroom teacher vs. the role of an itinerant/arts education teacher  Developing an ‘arts inspiring’ school – assemblies, special occasions, extra curricular opportunities, classroom inspiration  Art in-service

 Put in order of importance the most important subject to the least important subject in a school.  How do you balance your time? As a teacher, what elements do you need to plan into your week?  How do you deal with stress?

Teachers often get into an “I can’t teach Arts Ed. Mindset”. What would you say to them about what they can do? We fight stereotypes in schools. What can you do in your classroom to combat this? How can you make arts education “COOL”?

 What is the difference?  What responsibilities are the same and what responsibilities are different?  What kinds of things do these two teachers need to communicate about?  What should the classroom teacher tell the itinerant?  What should the itinerant teacher tell the classroom teacher?

 In your classroom?  In the school?  In your life?

 Make an art folder of ideas  Talk with others  – ask permission to use their ideas  – be cautious not to take ideas and make others mad  Use all kinds of mediums  Think about the teaching part, not just the creating part

 Doodle art teaching the colour wheel  Primary colours – red, yellow, blue  Complimentary colours – orange, green, purple  Draw a design on a page  Colour design using one group or the other  Brainstorm ideas about what else you can do with the colour wheel.

 Draw a curvy line from one corner to another  Make little tick marks across  Begin following the line from one to the next
