SOCIAL MEDIA FINAL PRESENTATION

PROJECT SUMMARY Our job was to making a working social stream that incorporated all social medias for FSU, FSU CCI, and other FSU affiliated Twitter, Facebook, and other plugins. We wanted to make something really functional and allow for users to see a really professional looking website that exhibited the values and content All of Florida State University could agree with. We want it to become a very fundamental component to the FSU experience.

ORIGINAL TIMELINE Get PHP information from past group  Due date: 2/14/2014 Get basic outline of website created  Due date: 2/14/2014 Implement Fully Functional drop-down menu  Due Date: 2/28/2014 Make Twitter contents work on social media stream  Due Date: 3/14/2014 Get FSU hashtags used on twitter and program them into the twitter media stream  Due Date: 3/19/2014 Make Facebook and instagram contents tabs of drop-down menu  Due Date: 3/21/2014 Link with FSU instagram and Facebook pages  3/21/2014 Make last tab LinkedIn functional  Due Date: 3/21/2014 Go to FSU web host  Due date: 3/25/2014 Change website and contents to FSU specific criteria for website  Due date: 4/10/2014

ACTUAL TIMELINE Get basic outline of website created  Due date: 2/14/2014 We got outline and everything pointed out Get PHP information from past group  Due date: 2/14/2014 This turned out to be a longer process than it ever was. It was not until the ice cream social weeks ago that we even got to talk to the developer and he gave us two more weeks from that point until we could start on his project Research of various ways to do the program - Due date: 2/14/2014-3/12/2014 We tried implementing various PHP models and everything we could possibly find to no avail. We tried many times on different programs ranging from HTML, PHP, Ruby, etc and still was not gaining any progress Found a viable plugin for the social stream website using Wordpress  Date:3/14/2014 Redid design to Wordpress specifications before we considered purchasing  Date: 3/18/2014 We thought about basic design and created it as best as we could before we considered implementing the plugin Bought necessary plugin to run wordpress specifications  Date: 3/28/2013 We found a program that could put the social stream into effect and allow to stream exactly as wanted. Though not a standalone program we understood that this would allow us to get design work up to specification Get it approved by Ebe  Date: 4/4/2014-4/10/2014 We tried a test run of the information on CCI to really get basic feedback. Though in retrospect it was a bad idea I felt that we really needed to see how many views the site would get within an hour before taking it down. We later got it approved by Ebe and did the necessary modifications. From 4/4 to 4/10 we did the necessary modifications to the website we needed to make in order the site to live up to Ebe’s specifications and the reviews of other students Create survey for Leadership and have people give feedback  4/10/2014 to now We created a survey on the website and asked for feedback given by those people. We have gotten good feedback and really are trying to make it up live up to the standards it should.

OUR RESULTS

WHERE LEADERSHIP CAN BE IMPROVED Time management  The problem with a lot of this project is the coding took too much time and usually conflicted with other class studies and obligations me and other group leaders had. So I believe that next I should have communicated more efficiently in the beginning of the semester Communication  Communication seemed to be a problem on my part being the leader  Having many classes and other obligations it was hard to communicate to others effectively sometimes  With new leaders at it was hard sometimes to get them up to speed Backup Plans  The problem about this whole project was the original programmer from last semester never got back to us until the of March. We scrambled with as much resources possible to find an alternative. I believe that next time we should improve our backup plans in case something like this comes up Usability  I believe that though some things have been made functional other components need to be made functional at a faster place. With the website not on its own domain it functions very slowly and could prove to have a lot of future errors or problems with a lot of users on the site

OUR TEAM DYNAMIC We had a very good dynamic Everyone worked well together Adaptation to situations was good We had very little stress when completing the project We were all very relaxed All focused on the task at hand Overall Group was exceptional and we all did our part to make the project work despite having only 3 members in our group
