Birth to 1714 Née: 1 Novembre, 1694 as François Marie Arouet 1701: Mother dies 1704: enters Le Lycée de Louis le Grand 1711: leaves school to study law 1713: sent to Holland 1714:sent to the Marquis de Saint-Ange

Exiled to Tulle and Sully Sent to Bastille, where he writes the Henriade. - The Henriade was an epic poem and spoke of the political state of France Exiled to England Voltaire returns from exile.

Relationship with the marquise du Chatelet – relates to Candide and Cunegonde. Studies at the Château de Cirey: -Metaphysics -Leibniz -Newton -Bible After 15 years at the Château, Voltaire returns to Paris. He publishes a few works, and becomes the philosopher-poet to Frederick the Great. However they quarrel and Voltaire leaves.
