The Selection Test (11+) What is the 11+? “ The 11+ is a test given to pupils in their last year of primary school and is used as a means to determine whether that pupil is suited to the academic rigours of a grammar school education. “ Date: Saturday 19th September 2015

English Passage requiring a high level of reading from an unfamiliar text Questions about the text – mainly multiple choice Meanings of words/phrases Word puzzles e.g. Missing letters, words within words Writing – 2 short descriptions – demonstrate high level of spelling, grammar and punctuation
