F. Scott Fitzgerald His father, Edward, was from Maryland. His mother, Mary, was the daughter of an Irish immigrant. Princeton Class of More interested in writing than his studies.

F. Scott Fitzgerald Joined army in Stationed in Montgomery, Alabama in June, 1918.

F. Scott Fitzgerald Met celebrated debutant Zelda Sayre. WWI ended, moved to New York City to seek his fortune.

F. Scott Fitzgerald Resubmitted This Side of Paradise, a quest novel set in Princeton. Began writing short stories for magazines.

F. Scott Fitzgerald Zelda broke their engagement. Dejected, he returned to St. Paul and began to revise first novel.

F. Scott Fitzgerald Fitz moved to Hollywood in 1937 to try screenwriting. He paid off most of his debts. Died of a heart attack on Dec. 21, 1940, at the age of 44. Zelda died in a hospital fire in 1948.
