Katie Feldman moved to Southport, North Carolina to start a new life to move on from her past
Her husband would drink a lot…
He got drunk every night and would beat her
Katie is running from her past
She’s trying so hard to forget…
She tries to keep to herself and not meet anyone new
Then she is hired at a restaurant and the other waitresses and cooks try to be-friend her
Next she realizes she has a neighbor and starts to become friends with her
Jo is a therapist so she tends to ask a lot of questions and seems to get into everyone else's business.
She starts to get Katie to talk to more people and be more social
Then Katie meets Alex
He is a single father to two kids, Kristen and Josh, and owns an old-fashioned country store
Katie goes to the store every day to get food for dinner.
After a while of shopping there, she becomes close with Alex’s daughter Kristen
Then one day while Alex was ringing her up at the counter, Katie noticed his son almost drowning in the water outside
When Alex runs to save his son, Kristen was clinging onto Katie and relying on her as a child would to their mother
Alex then started to grow feelings for Katie
One day he finally gets up the courage to ask her out
Their relationship grew stronger every day but Katie was always scared of one thing…
That her husband would find her and take her back to Boston
Katie tries to forget about it all to stay with Alex and keep a stable relationship with him
When all things are going well
Kevin, Katie’s husband, drove for hours trying to find her
He found out that she is in a relationship
He has been drinking all night so his anger intensified the more he drank
Kevin finds the store that Alex owns and realizes his house is above the store
He figured Katie was with Alex and he grew very jealous
Out of anger, Kevin lit the store on fire
The flames grew larger by the minute
Katie woke up to the smell of the fire downstairs and ran to wake up Josh and Kristen
She rushed out the window with the kids in her arms
When she tried to stand up and get off the ground she noticed Kevin standing above her with a gun pointing at her
Katie told the kids to run and find a place to hide while she tried her hardest to save her life along with Josh and Kristen’s
Alex found his kids running down the side of the road and brought them to Katie’s house
When he arrived to his store, Kevin had disappeared
Alex found Katie and brought her back to her house
When they walked inside the house they found Kristen and Josh and all hugged in relief
Then Kevin appeared in the doorway and swung a crowbar at Alex and he collapsed in pain
Katie stood up, infuriated with Kevin
She took the gun she had found earlier and pointed it at him, pushing him out the doorway and tripping off the porch
She started screaming at him for the way he treated her and for tracking her down and told him she would never go back with him
Kevin tried to stand up and take the gun from her, but instead of grabbing the gun he pulled the trigger and it shot him
Katie and Alex ended up in the hospital
After hours of being in the hospital, they were all happy to find out everyone was okay
Even though Katie’s past made her fearful for her future, she moved on.
From there her life got her life got a lot better
No matter how hard it gets, you need to accept the past and move on with the rest of your life.
