Welcome Back! Sit with your Fall Buddy Review of Day 2 “Gots and Needs”

Concerns Based Adoption Model: 3 Tools Stages of Concern (SoC) Levels of Use (LoU) Innovation Configurations (IC)

Innovation Configuration Innovation Configuration can also be called a practice profile, a matrix, a rubric or a map. ICs are standardized description of an innovation or practice; includes: –Components and their variations (see last page of handout TSP Map) –Implementation requirements IC communicates the key elements of the innovation and expectations for use

Discuss and Read Read p Discuss: Why is it important to have a clearly defined innovation when making changes in schools?

Implementation Dip Michael Fullan

Discuss and Read Read pages 113: Innovation Configurations as a Concept to top of page 117 Discuss: What is an Innovation Configuration Map and how might this tool help you?

IC Maps See examples on pages 118, What do you notice? Discuss: How can a clear vision of a change serve as a road map to successful implementation? How might you use an IC for vision-building? To guide implementation? For evaluation?

IC Practice Decide which practice you will map Interview the “developer” of the practice Record what you hear as the key components Record ideal and unacceptable use of at least one component.

Create an Innovation Configuration Using the Innovation and Component you identified: –Create a partial IC on at least one component –Label the component –Discuss and document your responses to the questions on the bottom of page 126. –Write out your Partial IC on chart paper to share –If you have time, more on to another component

Discussion As a team, discuss the process of developing your IC. –How did it work for you? –How can you use the IC in your work? –How does the IC connect to the SoC and LoU tools? What are your next steps for using the tools or the simulation game in your work?

Ideas for Next Session As a team, what content would you like to see at our next session to best support your work? See question 36 and jot your responses there.
