SECOND EXPERT MEETING KA1 PROJECT VIENNA MAY 2011 WORKGROUP 2 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INTERIM REPORT

TASKS TO IDENTIFY PRACTICAL ISSUES IN THE ACTIVITY WITHIN THE PROJECT TO IDENTIFY ISSUES IN THE ACTIVITY OF THE GROUP AS PART OF THE PROJECT TO SET THE COURSE FOR FUTURE ACTIVITIES

THE QUESTIONS ISSUES IDENTIFIED IN RELATION TO THE E SECTION (E2 – E1.3., E1.5, E1.6.) – Curriculum History and Aspects of Subject History o An informed selection of courses o An average of requirements ISSUES IDENTIFIED IN RELATION TO THE F SECTION (F1.6) – Training of historical (research) methodology o Selection in terms of required number of courses Difficulties in situations in which subject based training occurs in another institution or for those not directly involved in subject based training IN BROADER TERMS HOW TO CHECK STATISTICAL DATA HOW TO CALCULATE PERCENTAGES ISSUES OF TERMINOLOGY: to work with the best fit and accept terminological relativity (e.g., Social Studies vs. Social Sciences), to give definitions/understan- dings from dictionaries and or national level ASPECTS OF SUBJECT HISTORY: to work with written curricula (issues: breaking down broad concepts into smaller meaningful units?)

THE QUESTIONS (part 2) One way ahead would be to focus on 2-3 concepts and or broad concepts for in-depth analysis and to check to which extent do they influence practice QUESTIONS THAT MIGHT BE ASKED The problem of induction periods and of measuring the progress in training, i.e., issues of feedback (student understanding of their training) The issue of diversity within educational systems (between training institutions, provinces, etc.) To take into consideration the differences between consecutive and concurrent models of training
